Aisling Cliodhnadh O'Sullivan (born 16 March 1984) is better known by her stage name Aisling Bea is an Irish actor, writer and comedian. Bea started appearing as part of the cast on Irish or British TV programs in the year 2009, began her career by performing stand-up comedy in 2011. Bea began performing regularly on sketch comedy and sitcoms from 2012. After her victory at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards, she was booked for a variety of panel shows. Between 2016 and 2017, she was a team captain for 8 Out of 10 Cats as well as a frequent participant in the show's spinoff 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. Parents include Brian and Helen O'Sullivan. She has one younger sister, Sinead. The only female winner of So You Think You're Funny in 2012. Her surname honors the memory of her late father. Aisling Cliodhnadh was born the 16th of March, 1984 in Kildare Town in County Kildare. Bea's father Brian is an equine doctor who took his own life at the age of three. Bea didn't learn how her father passed away until she turned thirteen. The stage name she chose was Bea as a tribute to her father and wrote an article for The Guardian in 2017 about her family's experience of suicide. Bea's mom Helen, who is also an instructor for jockeys and a former professional jockey was responsible for the care of her daughter as well as Sinead. The family was fascinated by racing and horses. Bea was a guide at The Irish National Stud in her young days. But she was aware it wasn't something she wanted to do as a profession and preferred doing.
